Collecting Baskets
What makes someone a collector of baskets? Collectors may chase after a single style of basket, such as Appalachian, Shaker, Adirondack packs, Nantucket or Southwestern Native American baskets. Or some collectors have a favorite individual artisan, perhaps someone you've yet to hear of on a common basis. You can even get a certificate of authenticity with some baskets.
Or a collector may be more of a history buff than a basket enthusiast, making the fact that it's a basket secondary to the fact of its origin or time period. Or you could collect baskets made of one material or one shape. Some people love to collect anything with an apple design. You can find multiple apple design baskets. Or even watermelons or other types of food shapes if you want to expand the food group collection. Or perhaps you only want traditional style baskets. Or modernization suits you best, and you want contemporary baskets hot out of the designers' hands as quick as they can deliver them. Personally, I collect any basket that strikes my fancy. I love variety and vibrancy----different colors, materials and textures. And I'm my biggest viewer of my basket collection anyway. And you'll probably be your best basket fan. So buy what suits you.
